Tony says: What the heck?
I’m here in Myrtle Beach for Tony’s last tournament of the AAU season. Throughout the season, our team has been in 6 of 7 championships, won 1 of them undefeated, and finished 2nd place 5 times in a row! Now, we are trying our hand at tournament here in MB. This tournament has college coaches attending and doing scouting, so we should have known that the teams who showed up would be stacked, to say the least. Most of teams actually do recruiting from across their respective states and regions. We, well, just have a few guys who like to play b-ball.

We got a surprise in the form of a change of bracket. We were supposed to play 15 (10th grade) and under, but got put in the 16U age group (11th grade). Well, with grade exceptions, the 16u teams have 18 year olds, who happen to be in 11th grade. Let me tell you, there’s a huge difference in size and weight between a 15 and 18 year old!

This picture is representative of what the team saw in both games, which we lost both. Today, we have one more game. If we lose, we are out. Hopefully, we’ll figure out a way to beat these men! :-)

In a sport like basketball even at that age the differences can be amzingly vast. I’m not sure it’s fair to pit such vast differences in height, weight and skill against one another but in one respect it better equips your team in knowing what to expect next year and gives them a chance to experience adifferent level of ball.
The angel for your shot creates a great visual embellishment of the difference in height etc.
