spillway reminds me of a wall 10-12 ft high and about 8 inches wide. I used to walk on that wall just for fun. I also used to jump from roof top about 10ft high. As a kid it is easy to that, I will be scared to do it now

Paul, I’m sure YOU have more stories where those came from, too!
One of the dumbest things I’ve ever done was step over a downed wire fence, hug a skinny tree, and lean waaay out to take a photo of a rushing waterfall. It wasn’t until months later, after someone fell to their death from that point some 160 ft. up, that I realized how close to the edge I’d been. Dumb-dumb-dumb (but the picture was fantastic)!

I recall your fireworks post and believe it is related to this one for me. There are reasons these things are illegal in many parts of the country and the reasons I believe are for the things my generation did with them. Roman Candle wars, Bottle Rocket wars, blowing things up in mail boxes along with the mail boxes themselves, -well I never vandalized anything, but I did participate in many stupid acts.

I think it’s all a necessary part of growing up; becoming risk takers (and more importantly risk survivors!). What we learn then transitions into becoming calculated risk takers and successful individuals in the “real” world. The old adage of survival of the fittest still applies.

Youth and stupid antics are definitely related.

I learned never to ride a bicycle with roller skates on. There were others but I think that was my first memorable “What was I thinking” moment, it was all downhill from there.

Micki, I’ve always pronounced it Ki-yah-hog-ah myself; however, you’ll hear it pronounced both ways, so I’m not sure!

Ah, youth is wasted on the young for sure!! Always lots of memories to chuckle about when we’re older and not as flexible and quick healing.

Now, is that Ki-yah-hog-ah or ki-yah-hoge-ah River?? I always pronounced it Ki-yah-hog-ah.
