It is the space within that makes it useful
My good friend, Richard, and I were talking yesterday. He was telling me of his wonderful day at the Dallas Arboretum. He said that it was a great day, weather wise, about 70 degrees and cloudy. Meanwhile, here in Charlotte, it was about 95 degrees and fully sunny. I had planned to go to the zoo, but decided to delay and wait for cooler temperatures.

So, instead of shooting, I just piddled around the house and got a lot of things done that I’ve been putting off, like cleaning up my office and throwing away some more ‘stuff’. Mainly, just working off items on my honey-do list. :-)

After the work is done
Later, after speaking to Richard for a bit, I was wandering around the house doing this and that. This was at that time of day when the light is really interesting. The sun is low in the sky and it starts to creep through the gaps in the mini-blinds. So, out comes the camera and the fun begins.

I don’t know why, but I don’t question it. I just have to click that shutter at least once a day. I don’t even have to go anywhere special, because it’s all special. The sunshine plays no favorites and shines on everything with equal intensity.

I just want those daily expressions.

  1. From this, I’m wondering – are you driven by the need to take photos (camera in hand) or make images? For me it’s all about images – if there’s a backlog of stuff to work on, I don’t feel compelled to pick up the camera.

  2. Doonster, I have no idea which it is. I don’t feel compelled, in any sense. I just really like to ‘see’ things and then capture them with my camera. Sometimes, just viewing them is enough. I just like to do it. It’s fun.
