Well, I had to do it! Earl was teasing me relentlessly with his postings of beautiful fall foliage! Since we live only about 25 miles apart, I figured that I’d better get in some colorful shooting this weekend!

On the way back from Charleston yesterday evening, I noticed that the trees started changing color the closer that I got to Charlotte. When I left Charleston, everything was green. As I got past Columbia, SC, about 100 miles from home, I started noticing the first swatches of color. As I neared the North Carolina border, it was getting dark, but I could see some colors in the trees.

This morning, I took Hobbs, and my camera, for a walk. Last week when I was here, everything was green, green, green. There were the barest hints of color. This morning, thanks to a week of cold morning weather, there were colors every where. No. They haven’t peaked yet, but they are still beautiful nonetheless.

So, away we went, camera in one hand, leash in the other. We spent a pleasant 2 hours out walking. It started off pretty cold, but then began to warm up. Of course, Hobbs couldn’t care less about the leaves of the trees, he was more interested in the trunks! ;-)

  1. Well finally! ;-) Now I can stop posting all those autumn photos. lol

The roof lines make an interesting shot.

  2. Gorgeous color. It sounds as though Hobbs got a great birthday present.

  3. Our colors are amazing this year!! But, we’re raining so much here. I hope the leaves hold tight through it all and I can get out this weekend. It’s a fall not to be missed this year.

  4. @Micki:The colors in Charlotte are kind of hit and miss. Some trees are really showing out this year, others are still green, yet others just gave up, went brown, and dropped their leaves. I hope that there is still a bit of color when I go home this weekend!
