If you could see me, you might ask me: Paul, it’s 1:50 in the afternoon. Why are you at your apartment cooking lunch and getting ready to drive back to Charlotte? And I would say:
Ok, so the story goes like this:
Approximately 3 weeks ago, I knew that I was going to have to make a trip to Seattle, Washington to visit Boeing as part of our project. I just didn’t know when. Two weeks ago, it was decided that we should go on Monday, December 8th and return either Thursday the 11th or Friday, the 12th. Last week, it was decided that Boeing might not be ready to receive us and that we probably would be going on December 16th, instead of the 8th, but that decision was put off until Friday.
If you don’t hear anything from us by Friday afternoon (December 5th), you will NOT be going to Seattle the next week! It’s not fair to you guys to not know your schedule and we don’t want to do that.
Well, that quote is the setup, as I’m sure that you know. And your’s truly, being a naive person believed the words. Nice words. No value. So, as I usually do, I stayed in Charlotte until Monday morning, awoke at 5:00 AM, drove to Charleston, arrived at work at about 9:00 AM, after a brief stop at my apartment to change clothes.

When I arrive, my development lead summons me over and says: “Dude! We are going to Seattle tomorrow! Check your e-mail, make your reservations, etc.” My only expression that I was capable of at that time was: Huh?!!! I thought …
Alas, after checking my e-mail, I find that in order to get into Boeing, I need a passport! Well, my passport is at home, safely tucked away in our safe! My wife doesn’t get home until 6-ish, and there is no manner of overnight service that is going to get it here in time for a 7:00 AM flight! So, instead of leaving from Charleston, I’m about ready to drive back to Charlotte … I’ve never done the round-trip in one day before, grab the passport, pack for tomorrow, and it’s wheels up from CLT tomorrow at 7:35.
As it is a direct flight, I will arrive there at about 10:30 Pacific Time, a 3-hour time difference makes this a 6-hour flight. *Groan* As much as I have criticized Dallas, it sure was a convenient place to depart from! Smack in the middle of the country!
I’ve never been to Seattle before. As I get there at 10:30 in the morning, I may make a day of it doing some sightseeing. We’ll be staying in Tukwila, WA, just outside of Seattle. Wednesday and Thursday are work days. Friday will be a travel day, leaving at 7:31 AM, arriving back into Charlotte at 7:00 PM.
Have D40! Will travel! Up! Up! And away!!! I’ll post from there, if possible. Right now, it’s time for a little nap, then a long drive!

Oh that sounds like a rough schedule! Good luck I hope all goes well! Safe trip.
Have a safe trip and wave to Paul B. I hope we will hear more details from this adventure.
Interesting; your post save kind of patience you have
Have a safe & fun trip!
Ugh, sleeping in an airport – tried that – no fun!! I have always wanted to go to the Seattle area.
Oh boy! I can’t wait to hear what you have to say about Seattle. We almost moved there this past summer.
@Micki: I don’t know how much I’ll have to say about Seattle, honestly. I doubt that I’ll even get to see it! Today and tomorrow are work days. Friday, we leave at 7:30 AM. Not much time for exploring.
I’m hoping that we can gather all of the information that we need today and only work a few hours tomorrow, leaving the rest for exploration. I hope!
