A pause for the cause.
Today, after work, I finally went to downtown Charleston to Battery Park, or The Battery as the locals call it. It is a historic area filled with lots of history. Most of the historic houses have placards indicating when they were built; some of the houses were from 1679! Impressive, at least to me. I know that it’s not European old, but it’s very old for the U.S.

Anyway, as I strolled along the streets getting acquainted with my surroundings, I noticed that there seemed to be dogs everywhere. There is a park that allows you to let your dog run without a leash, as long as he/she is well behaved. Of course, there were the ubiquitous joggers and their dogs.

While walking down King St. I saw a man riding his bike, the dog diligently jogging beside him. I thought that I’d get a picture as they turned the corner. Well, the dog needed to pause for the cause and I caught him at the decisive moment. :-) Dogs! You’ve gotta love ‘em!!!

  1. Here I have dogs on my mind and you have been on a dog theme. Hmmm.

  2. Henri Cartier-Bresson, eat your heart out!

  3. That’s a moment! Good that the man noticed the dog needed this little pause. Another thing I was thinking reading this is that even with European measures 1679 is quite old, since there are not _that_ many building older than this even in our oldest cities… :-)
I found your site by following links from the sofomobo site, where I a few days signed up to complete a photo book. Now I’m browsing around to see what others are thinking around this. Exciting, and I need to work on a good idea! :-)

  4. Hope that lantern has a good cover of rust-proofing paint…
