It’s almost 6:00 PM and the temperature has cooled down to a chilly 91 degrees. :-) On my way home, about 4:00 PM, it was 101 degrees and quite sunny. As you can probably guess, I’m not so interested in going out and shooting in this weather. All thoughts of going to the beach, marshes, or anywhere quickly dissipate when I walk outside and am wrapped in the loving arms of 101 degrees and a good bit of humidity. I think: “Hmmm! Looks like a good day to do some more post processing!”.

While I was in Akron, OH this weekend, I did enjoy the 60 degree mornings and 80 degree days. It was quite pleasant. I took a number of photos, too. I took quite a few at my niece’s graduation as well as quite a few for a photo project that I’ve been wanting to do for a number of years. I started it last night!

I’ve started walking again. I reserve the mornings for that. It’s amazing how much better I feel through the day after a 45 minute walk in the morning. It’s slightly over 2 miles, but it is invigorating. So, I’ll have to figure out a time when I can go shooting. Perhaps on the weekend. Perhaps occasionally I’ll tough it out and brave the heat, but it seems as though my creative juices have trouble in that kind of weather, or perhaps they don’t … maybe the juices just boil away in the intense heat!

I’ve noticed that the natural June/July slowdown of blog postings is in full effect. Northern Hemisphere summer play time, I suppose.

  1. Pretty nice here in the NW Paul except for sunrise at 4:30am and sunset at 9:30pm. At least we are finding out what dry is. Sounds like you need a road trip…….
101 degrees would kill most of us off real quick.

  2. Yes, it’s summertime, all right. Not much going on here on my side of the hemisphere either. A few weeks of vacation will not make it any better, I’m afraid; I will most probably stay offline most of the time. I think this is good for creativity too, to turn off everything and go totally analog. :)

  3. I don’t miss that heat combined with humdidity. I remember it well from living in central Texas all those years. We certainly don’t deal with the humidity here, but occasionally have days hot enough to keep me inside.

Those morning walks sound both ambitious and smart. I should find the discipline.

I suspect that there are many of us who will be quieter than usual for the next couple of months. We could probably use the opportunity for recharging.

  4. And I thought I was in the minority when it comes to summer’s heat zapping creativity. Good to know I am in good company.

  5. Summertime does seem to slow things down a bit in the blogosphere. The number of visitors seems lower…especially on the weekends…no big surprise there. I’ve been crazy busy so gettng around to visit is a chore at times. I don’t want it to be a chore because I love to see what is new and exciting.

We’ve had a really really cool summer so far in the NY area. I’ve not had the AC on even once. Today I turned on the ceiling fan in my office and between that and the pleasant breezes coming through the windows it is just perfect. We had a lot of rain in June but so far July seems to be on a high note…gorgeous!
