I had been using my previous theme for a few years and decided that it was time for a change. Mainly, I made this change because the old them was quite outdated and didn’t support new WordPress features like nested comments, which I wanted to use. The current theme is called Paper. I like it because of its simplicity; however, I still need to tweak it a bit to make it mine. It’s a little bit too ‘vanilla’ for me. So, over the coming weeks you might see small changes here and there. I’ll try to keep the disruptions to a minimum.
I need to go to sleep, now. I had no idea how I would spend the evening so I went to the beach for about 45 minutes, then drove home and started messing with this new theme. The beach, BTW, was wonderful. It was a bit windy, but at least the air temperature wasn’t bad, about 68 degrees, but the 20 – 30 MPH winds made it at bit chilly. There was quite a bit of humidity in the air so everything had this soft glow to it. It was very peaceful.
Now it’s 11:00 PM and I still don’t have it quite tweaked the way I’d like, but there’s always tomorrow, I suppose.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Paul, I like this theme and I’m sure you’ll make some nice adjustments to personalize it over the coming days and weeks. I average changing at least parts of my blogs theme at least once per year or more. I look forward to watching it evolve.
First of all, I”m glad you made it to the beach and love the image. Next, I also like the new theme, it is clean and easily readable. I sort of like the stationary left column when you scroll, not sure I’ve seen one of those before. Will check to see any other changes you may add. This is also a geeky thing for me, as I’m always checking to see what others are doing with their blog themes, wanting that or this. It’s another place for me to go and not go out and shoot.
I’ve already seen some of that and wondering how I can implement it on mine. Think I better go out and shoot.
I am so jealous!! I’m still trying to figure out my wordpress blog…which I’ve started posting on again…and I get so frustrated! Mainly I’d like to be able to change the font and get the words to go around my pictures some time.
Don’t even get me started on my Facebook page.
Yesterday was a lovely day after the rain moved out. A little spring kiss before winter returns today.
You’re on Facebook? Cool, look me up and add me as a friend. I’m there, too. As for tweaking and such, you’re going to have to get involved in CSS, Cascading Style Sheets. That’s where all of the magic happens in the themes.
I just looked for you on Facebook and couldn’t find you. Maybe you can find me . . .
This is a very nice and pleasant theme that seems to fit your content very well. Needs not much further tweaking in my opinion, but I know how it is. It must feel as yours.
I love your visits to the beach too, you always return with the most wonderful images to share with us less fortunate souls, living in the North. I thought I would see your by now famous pier. Sometimes it good to turn around and shoot in the other direction. Just look at that sunset……..
Yeah, Ove. I do love to shoot toward the east and that pier does figure prominently in my photos.
Every once in a while, you need to turn the other direction to see what you might be missing.
The beach images are becoming a signature for you Paul and I like them. Like the new theme
Well, when in Rome …
Not may opportunities for waterfall pictures here in the low country.
I like it. Nice look. Very clean.
Whoah, I thought I visited the wrong site for a moment.
I have been having the theme switching urge for a little while, just haven’t made the plunge yet. I have several candidates identified.
This one looks like it gives you ample room to personalize Paul. Good luck.
Like Mark, I thought for a moment that I had wandered to the wrong blog. I like the new look. It will be fun to watch the tweaks evolve in the next week or so.
Simple and clean presentation Paul, looks great. Like your image. That beach looks like it goes on forever.
Very nice theme, Paul. A huge improvement. Clean and simple. The right column is too wide, I think, as is its left margin. And scrolling, for me at least, is not very smooth. Otherwise, it looks great. Vanilla is good; it keeps the focus on the content.
Yeah. I need to mess with those margins a bit. I have my site downloaded to my laptop and am running MAMP locally. I’ve been messing with the css but haven’t quite yet figured out how to control the width of that right column. It’s not very obvious. There’s a lot of CSS to surf through. So it’s been pretty much change and look, change and look. I’ll get there.
I’ve not noticed any issues with scrolling, so I don’t know if I can do anything about that.
Perfectly you that you have a beach photo together with your new theme…
Like it, has a very similar feel to the old one. Only problem: the menu items to the left are too small on my screen. Or my eyes are getting old… Or both.
Thomas: I’m going to work on that menu this weekend, I think. I want to change it to a horizontal menu. I’ll work on it locally and when I finally figure it out, put up the new one.
