Thanks for the image, Paul. I've seen the Ashley River, of course, but never in that kind of light. At least it looks warm! I also sympathize with people who live in locations (like Charlotte) who get unexpectedly cold weather and don't know quite how to handle it. Closing schools based on only a forecast of snow isn't all that unusual for southern towns (I've even seen them do it as far north as Baltimore). Heck, in Las Vegas - where I used to live - crazy things happened out on the roads when it just rained. People couldn't handle it. It was like watching people drive on ice.

As for TV watching, I do envy you. I spend far more time in front of it than I care to admit, although most of the time I'm watching some kind of news show. Even so, I do have certain shows I'm a little "addicted" to, like "House" or "24".

I hope when spring comes you get a chance to visit some of those old plantations like Middleton Place or Magnolia Gardens. Yes, they're tourist traps but they can be beautiful. Just stay away from the alligators. (Just kidding - they're very small alligators.)

I'm with you on the tv. It helps that there isn't really anything worthwhile on anymore (if there ever was). Just reality shows, cop shows, celebrities blabbing about themselves shows, etc. I stopped watching a few years ago and it made more time for my hobbies. My wife is still hooked or we'd get rid of our cable in a heartbeat.
