Not just “keeping it simple”, but also allowing yourself and being sufficiently prepared to be able to respond to these moments. When I experience them it is usually fleeting and a “half notice” because I am on an errand or just not fully engaged with what is before my eyes. The point is that such a sight occurs just the same here in UK suburbia the difference being that you documented it. You are right, what you saw is enjoyable.
I agree here, and it also falls into the paradigm of always having a camera at hand so when a simple but evokative image such as your above presents itself, you can respond.
It may sound and look simple, but there is serious thought involved in an image like this and it takes a trained eye to find it. To see it.
