I was in Akron this past weekend for the Memorial Day weekend. I had a lot of fun visiting with relatives, very, very loud relatives. 🙂 Of course, during my time there, I did my morning walks. One morning, as I was on the way to downtown, I looked across the highway and saw the hotel, formerly named, Holiday Inn Cascade Plaza. The current name is: Radisson Hotel, Akron City Center. I smiled. I smiled at the memories of taking…

I just received a notification from PayPal and my host, BlueHost.com, that I’ve been renewed for another two years, which is cool, as I plan to stay around for that time. The last few months, as I look back, have been rather quiet on the blogging front, but I’m not quite sure why. I’ve just not had all that much to post, I suppose. I’m still around taking photos, mostly with my iPhone since I returned back from Mexico. It’s…

March 2003 I’ve resumed my daily walks with a new vigor. I’d been sputtering for a bit, but seem to have gotten back in stride and am fully enjoying them. I’ll share with you, a thought that I had this morning, near the end of my walk: This morning, as I was finishing my walk, I was making a decision as to turn left and head home, or to continue straight for a couple of more blocks. To all of my fellow bloggers who live in the climates where it is cold and snowy from November through perhaps March or April, I salute you and your fortitude! 😉 This weekend I am in Akron, Ohio helping my sister to celebrate her birthday. Normally, I stay out of these parts until springtime! When I landed in Akron, yesterday, it was a brisk 19 degrees. This morning, 12 degrees with wind chill of -6. Totally unheard of in Charlotte…

Fritz and Pedro – Frio River, Leakey, TX 1996 or so While continuing to dig through the archives, I came upon this negative, taken with my Yashica Mat 124G, back some 16+ years ago. Of course, I have cropped it because I felt that it worked a little better this way rather than square. I don’t have a lot of photos of my first Miniature Schnauzer, Fritz. I had Fritz for about 11 years (1988-1999) before he got out and…

While this rose is probably nobody’s idea of a perfect rose, it causes a smile to show upon my face, every morning when I awaken. Rain, shine, or even in this morning’s case, frost, that rose is there. It doesn’t seem to know or care that it’s cold outside – it just keeps doing what it’s doing, being a rose, being alive. That I get pleasure from it is inconsequential to the rose – it simply does not exist for…
